National Postcard Week 2020 –
Day One
Today is the first day of National Postcard Week, so I thought I’d celebrate by sharing with you one of my first loves: my “Greetings From” postcards.
I grew up in an antiquing/flea marketing/thrifting family, so it was no surprise when I started collecting these babies when I was like 9 years old. I was instantly drawn to the bright colors, the fun lettering, and the proof of past adventures and I would spend hours digging through shoeboxes at each store (literally nothing has changed, I still do this).
For as long as I can remember, a desire to travel has existed within me. It’s been a goal of mine to take a picture in front of every “Welcome To…” sign in all 50 states and these postcards always served as a reminder that someday I COULD achieve this. I could have the same kinds of adventures as the senders of the cards if I put my mind [and time and money] to it.
Though my taste in postcards has [only slightly] changed, my love for them has not. Turns out now I have an excuse to travel and explore and just have to tote around a [massive] binder full of postcards 🤷♀️ seems like a win-win to me!
Join me every day this week for more postcard posts in honor of national postcard week! ✉
